Description
Red Rooster is an Australian fast food restaurant chain specializing in roast chicken and related products.
Beginning in 1972, the Kailis family opened the first Red Rooster store in the Perth suburb of Kelmscott, Western Australia. Myer Emporium (later part of Coles Myer) then purchased the business in July 1981. In 1992 Red Rooster bought the Big Rooster chain to expand into the eastern states, and renamed the stores "Red Rooster". Red Rooster was then purchased by Western Australian company Australian Fast Foods Pty Limited in May 2002, which owned the competing Chicken Treat fast food chain.
As of 2012 there were over 360 Red Rooster stores, in all states and territories of Australia...
...except Tasmania.
